His Excellency, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana continues to seek more ways to facilitate the linking of Tanzania business community with their Nigerian counterparts. The High Commissioner on 28th September, 2021 facilitated talks between the Tanzania  Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) with the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA). Also, present at the meeting was Mr Paul Koyi, President of TCCIA, Ms Judith Karangi, DG of TCCIA, Mr Hamad Hamad, Executive Director of ZNCC, Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar, President of KACCIMA, Alhaji Aliyu Mustapha Mohammed, DG of KACCIMA, among other officers of the three Chambers represented as well as officers of the Tanzania High Commission, Abuja.

KACCIMA is located in Kano State, Nigeria, it is the 2nd oldest (98years) chamber of commerce in Nigeria, established in 1922 and currently has a membership strengthen of over 50,000. Kano State is a state with a population of about 20million, the state has been critical to commerce in Nigeria and its dominance dates back to precolonial days when it became a trans-sahara trade hub and the heart of commerce in Northern Nigeria.

The linking of these chambers is intended to create an avenue for them to explore platforms for collaboration and partnerships. The first step was the zoom meeting which has now delivered the first draft of an MOU, the final document will guide future collaboration and interactions amongst the chambers. The MUO is expected to be signed physically by the Presidents of the Chambesrs at a ceremony which should happen before the end of the year, 2021. The meeting further agreed that a trade mission will follow by the 1st quarter of 2022 after the signing of the MOU.
