The High Commissioner, H. E. Dr Benson Alfred Bana in line with his efforts to advance the 'Kiswahili Agenda' ( the most spoken indigenous language on the African continent) n West Africa has shown support to the effort by Voice of Nigeria (VON) to reach Africa and tell the African story particularly through the Kiswahili Services of the VON. The services has several challenges chief of which is the shortage of staff which limits the number of hours that the service is on the airwaves compared to the services of the other 7 languages within the VON.

Subsequently the High Commissioner has reached out to help the Kiswahili Service by setting up several meetings both physical and virtual, involving the VON Lagos,VON Headquaters at Abuja and at a later date the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC). All these meetings, discussions and advocacy has finally cumulated to the visit of the Director General of the TBC, Dr Ayub Rioba Chacha accompanied by the Company Secretary Mr Mwasika Mlawa.

The DG of TBC and his delegation will conduct their tours VON and other sister organization like Nigeria Televison Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). This is intended to create a rounded experience for the DG of TBC and his delegation. The Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation like similar organization world over encompasses the Television and Radio stations, unlike its Nigerian counterpart  which is separated into 3 autonomous entities.
