The 21st September, 2021 saw a critical step forward in the effort of the High Commissioner to further strengthen existing bilateral relations between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, through the linking of the media in both countries. On this day, the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) signed a Memoradum of Understanding (MoU) with the Voice of Nigeria (VON) for cooperation on content exchange, news exchange and staff exchange among other things. The Director General of TBC, Dr Ayub Rioba Chacha and the Director Genreal of VON, Mr Osita Okechukwu signed the MoU at an event that took place at the Headquaters of the Voice of Nigeria, Abuja in the presence of senior officials of the both organization as well as the High Commissioner of Tanzania, H. E. Dr Benson Alfred Bana and his delegation. Members of the press were also on ground to capture the moment.
The DG of TBC also visited other sister organization of the VON like Nigeria Televison Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). This is intended to create a rounded experience for the DG of TBC and his delegation. The Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation like similar organization world over encompasses the Television and Radio stations, unlike its Nigerian counterpart which is separated into 3 autonomous entities. At the visit to NTA and FRCN, the DG of NTA and the representative of the DG of FRCN committed to their desire to be a part of the MOU, on the Nigerian side to create a better synergy for cooperation between both countries.
