Tanzania sets to join the pioneers of the AfCFTA guided pilot trading initiative. This was established by Mr. Ally Gugu, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the United Republic of Tanzania. He revealed this at the workshop on AfCFTA agreement on Trade in Goods Protocol between the East African Business Council (EABC) and with 45 businesses under the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation, on February 15, 2023, in Dar es Salaam.
The initiative intends to test the operational, institutional, legal, and trade policy environment under the AfCFTA, and to send an important positive message to the African economic operators. The 8 pioneer countries of this initiative include Tanzania, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Tunisia and Rwanda.
Mr. Gugu further informed, of the Ministry’s strategic awareness campaigns, educating businesses interested to import intermediary inputs or exporting products to the continent through the pilot trading initiative.
